I underwent Major Emergency management Program by RGIT Montrose. I am qualified and fully competent (Rating - 1) for handling Major emergency in Offshore installations as per OPITO standard.

As prime responsibility of the Offshore Installation Manager I took care of Safety of the onboard Crew, Wells, main and associated Platforms, Product, Process, Environment and sustained Operation. I was responsible for maintaining adequate safety standards to get NIL harm to the crew. All possible major offshore emergency scenarios were prevented by adapting suitable standards of preventive maintenance, loss control measures and remaining alert on right from generation of the factors that may converge to an accident of any magnitude. Preparation covered any unforeseen natural calamity also. We were ensuring that the clarity of roles and responsibilities of the individuals are defined and understood by the individuals on their landing in the platform. Crew was exposed to all types of possible emergency scenarios and building their confidence to face the scenario (if any) with courage and confidence through appropriate drills, training and various means and measures so that the crew remains prepared always for facing an abnormal situation with confidence and doesn't resort to any knee jerk reaction in real time situation. This was achieved and maintained by good equipment management, training and rigorous competency making of the team suitable to the offshore operation. Safety logic is divided over function, nature, section, location, consequence, season and criticality for close monitoring and management. Safety of the individual divisions is integrated to the whole platform. Latest best safety practices of the industry are continuously grasped and followed. Permit to work (PTW) is fully followed. We are maintaining the Incidents' (including Near Misses) statistics, analyzing the same and implementing the recommendations for practical use so that they will not be repeated. SIMOPS Coordination and Logistics control (both air and sea in and around the platform) were also part of my responsibility.
We are following the “Safety Case (Controlled Documents)” in leading and managing the Offshore Installation. Operation manual is also a part of the controlled documents. Marine Rules and Regulations of the government concerned to Offshore Hydrocarbon exploration and Production, apart from the common rules and regulations common to any Industry are accommodated in the Controlled documents. Regular modification of government directions in Offshore Hydrocarbon exploration and production are not missed out from implementation. I was leading the Disaster and risk management in offshore. HR / ER management and training of the crew is done by thorough study, feedback and competency making. Managing the contractual and ONGC crew is done in such a way that their output is maximized towards the common goal. Ongoing jobs are line managed and ensured that the quality and quantity are falling in line with contract. Common objectives are drafted out to achieve the quantum of the output (Target) through work program, scheduling (planning) and time management.
We also took peripheral and related services to make a neat, clean and dispute free environment.
We maintained the daily production and dispatch as per the production target.
All problems of production, processing and dispatch are handled, and target achievement is maintained. Pigging of all Trunk lines is done as per the laid down schedule and procedure. Undersigned took an active role in commissioning the Booster compressors of both First and Second stages of compression and condensate pumps when Gravity Self flow pressure declined gradually and needed boosting. I was associated with the construction, Hook up and commissioning of Complex modules in expansion and during the addition of second stage Booster Compressors of BPB Complex. We undertake Trouble shooting. We analyze the well performance for maintaining the production through appropriate Well services measures. I was responsible for keeping up producing wells. We handled down hole problems in the platform itself, prior to any inevitable work over deployment. Regular well testing and occasional work over jobs were carried out in the unmanned and bridge connected well head platforms. We took care in establishing additional safety to offshore wells from other factors and threats. Hydrogen sulfide PPM ranges from 60 to 1100 PPM in all fields of ONGC, I worked. I also have exposure and training to work at a high range of 40000 PPM of Hydrogen sulfide from Kazakhstan Oil Fields.
We maximized the equipment availability by close monitoring the equipment status and taking fast remedial actions and following appropriate preventive maintenance schedules thro' PMS and Impetus (SAP).
We undertook budget preparation and expenditure control as part of our regular operations.
Role of Document controller - Compiling data for the relevant reports and records and Maintaining production figures, reservoir parameters, certification documents etc., initiating proposals and technical comments, forwarding the same to the administrative and financial head for approval, safety logic and standard review are done in my role as Document controller.

CERTIFICATIONS of the Onshore and Offshore Production, Processing and Unmanned Platforms

I took an active role in maintaining the following certifications of the offshore sour gas processing complex valid which is also helping much in eliminating the occurrence of any calamity.

ISO 9001:2008 - Production, Processing and Dispatch of Natural gas and condensate to Hazira and Production and Dispatch of oil well fluid to BPA

ISO 14001:2004 - Environment Management Safety Environmental Management System

OHSAS 18001:2007 - Occupational health and safety management system

M/S DNV Certification - Top side facilities for the intended use

ISRS Level - 7 - ISRS (International safety rating system Level - 7): DNV Maintaining the platform to the expectation of Insurers and Auditors not only makes the platform safe and eliminates the occurrence of any calamity but also reduces the Insurance Premium of the Offshore Platform.

    WELL SERVICES

In well services started the career as Shift - in charge in one of the Romanian work over rigs. I served as Tool pusher, Rig in charge, In charge of more than one work over Rigs, In charge of work over operations and Head well services. In all assignments tried to take up the trouble shooting by maximizing the use of available resources before seeking external help. I have contributed valuable services in the challenges encountered in wells. Handled Perforation, Stimulation and Clean up / Production testing extensively which are parts of Well Services operations

Handled the following jobs in well services:

    • Planning and execution of Services operations
    • Rig less work over operations
    • Work over Operations.
    • Production well testing of development and exploratory wells
    • Artificial lift
    • Well stimulation services
    • Monitoring and maintaining well integrity.
    • Documentation of activities of well services
    • Implementing well (operation) engineering fully.
    • Used CRA (Corrosion resistant Alloy) more specific in H2S wells. I have dealt with wells having H2S up to 1400 PPM in ONGC, India.

In Well services section I was holding assignment as follows:
From 22 Nov 82 till 31 Dec 86 for a period of 4 Years: Shift-in-charge of Work over rig P80 (IV) Romanian rig (Designation - Assistant Executive Engineer (Production)), ONGC, Assam, India
From 1 Jan 87 till 19 Aug 90 for a period of 4 Years: In-charge of P80 (IV) WOR Romanian rig (Designation - Executive Engineer (Production) and Deputy Superintending Engineer (Production)), ONGC, Assam, India
From 1 Jan 93 till 31 Dec 96 for a period of 4 Years: In charge of Work over operations and Work over rigs (Designation - Superintending Engineer (Production)), ONGC, Karaikal, India
From 1 Jan 97 till 26 Jan 01 for a period of 4 Years: In charge of Work over operations and Work over rigs, Artificial lift, Production Well Testing and Well Stimulation Services (Designation - Chief Engineer (Production)), ONGC, Karaikal, India

From 1 Jan 16 till 31 Jul 16 for a period of 7 Months: Head Well Services (Designation - Group General Manager (Production)), ONGC, Cauvery Asset, India

Planning and execution of Services operations
All well data are collected and taken up for discussion in the Multi-disciplinary team consisting Geo, Reservoir and Production members. The multi-disciplinary team thoroughly analyses the data and production profile of the wells and reservoir keeping the prime aim of maximizing Hydrocarbon recovery from the reservoir. All services' actions are oriented towards this aim. Cost, time and Hydrocarbon gain expected play the key roles in selecting the right Well services plan.

    Analysis of Sick Wells
We do in-depth Analysis and optimizing the flow parameter. The behavior of each well is analyzed in the due course of its production in a multi-disciplinary team. Well analysis is thoroughly done before preparing the well services plan. The multi-disciplinary team will check the reservoir, geophysical parameters, production parameters and well conditions for drafting a suitable well services plan. Rig will be moved in only when there is no chance for any rig less job. As the well becomes sick, the committee drafts the plan for reviving the well. Took lead in drafting the plan which may be a rig less work over job or work over job with rig deployment. The plan for all well servicing jobs is done after the deliberation in the multidisciplinary team.

    Rig less work over Operations
When the sick well is taken up for liquidation, all efforts will be made to liquidate the sick well without work over rig deployment. It may be activation, circulation, CTU job or any other well stimulation job or artificial lift completion and Servicing. Option of rig deployment is sought only when all these options are exhausted. Many rig less jobs have been done making a good saving. Selection of the rig is done depending on the volume of well services job.

    Work Over Operations
While working as Shift in charge and Rig in charge in work over rigs, took the rig performance along with the planned time. I carried out full use of the rig. Suggested and implemented modernization of kill lines and few rig operations. Innovations were made in the work over operations to reduce the operation times. Use of fresh water from the tube wells for well killing operations was implemented making a major policy change saving money and time. Normal work over jobs carried out are WSO, GSO, Sand clearance and control, fishing, trouble shooting of tubular stuck up, casing repairs etc., Operated Romanian and Card well work over rigs. I used to work in all places of the Rig. The rig operation is a combined operation of many members. I used to identify the relatively weak contribution on the rig operation and reinforce the same by demonstration and guidance so that the operation does not wait for manpower, materials, logistics, decisions and programs. Every step of the work over plan was effectively analyzed before implementation to improve the efficiency of the operation and avoid less fruitful trips. This point made the WOR P80(IV) as the fastest work over rig in Running in and Pulling out among the Sixteen work over rigs then present in Eastern region of Nazira of ONGC, India. I guided the Rig Crew on how to make a good progress. I could implement the same methodology in all work over rigs, I came across in my subsequent assignments. I handled the fishing jobs successfully. Managed a fleet of Four Work over rigs in subsequent assignment in Cauvery Asset, ONGC, India.

Well completions and Production Testing (WCT)
I was directly responsible for well completions. The life of the reservoir, well location, PI, the nature of flow and Safety of the well give required Bottom hole assembly and the desired type of completion. Completion is done so that future work over operations is not difficult and wells are safer. Carried out completions of new Exploratory and Development Wells and worked over wells.
Testing of both Exploration and Development wells were undertaken. Additional safety measures are taken up in exploratory wells. The capacity of the well is determined in pressure transient analysis, optimizing the draw down to get confirmed result. Production testing was meticulously planned and followed up with the aims of not missing the right potential of the well and not wasting the rig capacity. Production testing was undertaken for seven drilling rigs in Karaikal Asset. The flow parameters are optimized after the production testing coupled with Reservoir tests. Innovative activation means were employed in making fast and efficient Production testing. We facilitated fast commencement of production from the completed wells.

High Pressure and High Temperature (HP HT) Wells
I handled Wells of High Pressure (12000 Psi) and High Temperature (up to 310 Degrees F) in the Oil Fields of Cauvery Asset, ONGC, India. The challenge of Completion, Production (DST) testing, Hydro fracturing the HP zones, Flowing back for further Testing have been acquainted in depth. I handle the toughest job (in this category) of flowing back after Hydro fracturing which poses high vulnerability and damage and unsafe condition to the Well and Production Testing Equipment till stabilization thro' sand flow. Flow back analysis is used for the Production Strategy. Competent to handle the expected unsafe situations during the initial Flow back after Hydro fracturing because of the flow of left-over Proppant in the Well.

    Artificial lift
Installation and maintenance of Artificial lift were my responsibilities till Well Services was under the same umbrella of Production discipline prior to the change of present CRC set up in ONGC, India. The results of production testing and the production profile of the wells will guide the need of artificial lift. Depending on the environment and reservoir characteristics the type of artificial lift is chosen. Installation of Artificial lift is planned as much as possible in such a way that no separate work over rig deployment is needed for installation. Major lifts done are Gas lifts, SRPs, few ESPs and one screw pump in my experience. Servicing and maintaining of the artificial lift were done by a dedicated team under my direct control. Lift was designed with the help of software programs.

    Wells Stimulation Services (WSS)
Execution of all stimulation jobs was carried out. Without any major movement of rigs WSS jobs could yield more oil gain than other means of Well services. Common WSS jobs carried out are Circulation, Activation, CTU job, Acidization, Fracturing and Sand control. WSS jobs are followed rig less work over jobs or along with Work over and testing services. Help of software program is taken in designing Major Fracturing and other stimulation jobs. Hydro fracturing is carried out by In house team as well as by international Service Provider.

    SURFACE FACILITIES
My experience is in Production and collection of Hydrocarbon, processing the same and dispatching to the refinery and consumers with appropriate custody transfer. The collection place used to be both remote satellite and conventional developed fields. Satellite fields are having its own logistics problems. I spent adequate time in seeing that logistics problem is solved without creating any local administrative and environmental problems. Separation, demulsification and dehydration are the major processes. We carried out transportation of crude oil in railway wagons, onshore underground lines and offshore subsea pipelines. We took care of well integrity in all installations. We monitored less potential wells closely to optimize production from these wells and also prolonged sustenance is ensured lest
the Wells necessitates immediate Work over deployment. Achieving the target was the drive force in dealing with the Surface facilities. We did analyze of sick wells to judge the right type and quantum of Well services' action required.
Innovative activation of wells was carried out without waiting for conventional means. We also carried on the jobs with wells of maximum 1400 PPM of Hydrogen Sulfide in Indian Operations. We carried out pigging of the trunk lines. Assignments in surface facilities started with the job of Shift-in-charge in CTF (32000 barrel of oil and 2.5 MMSCMD Gas) Kalol and spanned to In charge of major Production installation.

In Surface Facilities section I was holding the assignment as follow
From 24 Nov 80 till 21 Nov 82 for a period of 2 Years: Shift-in-charge in central tank farm and Gas collecting station, ONGC, Kalol ((Designation - Assistant Engineer (Production)), Gujarath, India
From 20 Aug 90 till 31 Dec 91 for a period of 2 Years: In charge of Narimanam Group gathering station and sour EPS (Designation - Deputy Superintending Engineer (Production)), ONGC, Karaikal, India
From 1 Jan 92 till 31 Dec 92 for a period of 1 Year: In charge of Oil terminal, Nagappattinam and Satellite Production Installations of Cauvery Project (Designation - Deputy Superintending Engineer (Production)), ONGC, Karaikal, India
